Salsa Congress Promoter Albert Torres, has been hosting worldwide Salsa events for many years.

1. Introduction

Albert Torres is perhaps the Doyen
of Promoters for Salsa Congresses worldwide of which the biggest is the West Coast Salsa Congress in Los Angeles which attracts 25,000 salseros and salseros from US and across the globe.

I was first aware of him when he co-promoted with our own Paul Young the first ever UK Salsa Congress in 2002 which has to become perhaps the biggest and best Salsa Congress in Europe.

2. The Man

Founding Albert Torres Productions Inc in 1994, he has for many years been active in producing and promoting International Latin Entertainment events and concerts. He produces Salsa Nights which brings patrons and dancers to such clubs as The Hollywood Palladium,
The Sportsmen’s Lodge, The El Rey Theatre, The Hollywood Athletic Club, and The Ash Grove.

He has featured in films such as 'The Mambo Kings' with Antonio Banderas, 'Out to Sea' starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau and 'In Dance with Me' starring Vanessa Williams and Chayanne. On TV he has appeared in 'NYPD Blue', 'Brotherly Love', 'Dance for Life' and 'The Home and Family Show' with Christina Ferrare. He also performed with Jennifer Lopez on 'The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show'. He also hosts the weekly TV talk show Salsa Express.

Albert regularly devotes his time and efforts to the celebration and performance of Latin and Afro-Caribbean music and dance. He is also a dance agent to many talented child professional and amateur dancers.

3. The International Salsa and Events Promoter

However it is as a Worldwide Salsa Congress that Albert Torres is best known. He is the promoter/co-promoter of over 30 Salsa Congresses
worldwide and a new one seems to be opening everywhere in a different country. However Albert keeps pushing the boundaries in Latin Entertainment.

I thought that we had perhaps reached the pinnacle in World Salsa Congresses but along comes the 'Salsa World Championship', the first of which was held in Las Vegas in December 2005. This is a competition to find the best Salsa dancers in the universe.

The 2nd Annual World Salsa Championship is I believe in Las Vegas in December 2006 @ Orleans Casino Hotel & the Arena. This is to be confirmed.
