1. Introduction.
Pretty Boys and Girls Productions is a group of talented and diverse individuals dedicated to Salsa Dance.
Under the direction of Ricardo Sanchez & Michelle Castro, they create spicy & original Salsa Dance Routines that light up the stage!
Below is the story about how the Pretty Boys and Girls group came about and how they became what they are today.
2. Ricardo Sanchez.
Ricardo is Columbian and comes from a large family. As a kid he was always dancing with his mum and Dad and this is where he obtained his rhythm. Ricardo's main job is a Real Estate investor but Salsa is his part-time passion.
3. Michelle Castro.
Michelle has been dancing since the age of three and her father was a Cha-cha king. She has been a couple with Ricardo after meeting at a club, 'The Caribbean' in the SF Bay area. They frequented the club 'Alberto's at that time and have taken lessons from Alex, Gabriel, Eva, Judy and Luis.
4. The Champion Performers.
Ricardo and Michelle have performed at and won many competitions. They started competitions together in 1998 at El Valenciano and ever since then they have been hooked. They have been in competitions such as the Mayan, Conga and the Sportsman in the LA area.
Their infectious enthusiasm and love for Salsa encouraged them to get even more involved in the Salsa world. They have a successful dance company, organise many Salsa nights such as the 'No 1 Bay Area Social and Hot Salsa Friday and also promote the Annual SF Bay Area International Salsa Congress in association with that man Albert Torres.
5. Pretty Boys and Girls.
i. The Group.
Out of their love of Salsa they decided to form the Professional performance group Pretty Boys and Girls. They have performed all over the world notably the West Coast Salsa Congress in LA, the UK Salsa Congress and other places such as New York, Miami, Boston, Toronto, Hong Kong, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Brussels, Puerto Rico, and many more.
They performed at the UK Salsa Congress in 2005 and were such a hit that they have been invited back this year.They are also the reigning World Salsa Team Champions 2005 - 2006 of the World Championship held by Albert Torres. and the Salsa Seven in Las Vegas in November 2005.
ii. Their Style.
PG & B's clean lines, precise footwork, and always sexy styling can be seen in their performances and both Ricardo and Michelle are huge on technique. The group principally dance "On 1" but they are not LA Style. They dance "On 1" with a NY Style Flavour. Ricardo believes in having your own style as an individual and that shines through the dancers.
iii. The Members.
PB & G Productions consists about 8 members at present, most of whom have been together for at least 3 years. There is an Intermediate/Advanced Training Troupe, PB & G Rising Stars formed in 2002 for those who do not want the commitment of the Professional training and travelling and also a Students Group.
