1. The Salsa Scene in Australia.
The Salsa scene in Australia and especially in cities in New South Wales such as Sydney is massive with Salsa Clubs in Australia being on the rise. I went to the West Coast Salsa Congress in LA in 2006 and apart from the Japanese, the Australians were the most prevalent from that part of the world.
One of the main reasons why I went to the West Coast Salsa Congress was to dance with as many
social dancers as possible. I made it a point of asking everyone where they were from and on the first two days I discovered many dancers came from Sydney in Australia. Their standard of dancing was very high as well.
I also ask dancers if they would prefer to dance on the "On 1" or "On 2" and I am certain all the dancers from Sydney said they can do either (isn't it nice when you can say that).
2. Worldwide Salsa Ambassadors for Australia.
Perhaps I should not be surprised that Australia is so Salsa mad as we are in the UK. Oliver Pineda and Luda Kroitor who represented Australia at the West Coast Salsa Congress in 2006, as well Jaime Jesus and Little Liz are World Salsa Champions in their own right and the way Oliver and Luda performed on the Saturday evening of the Salsa Congress is an indication of the high standards that exist in Australia.
They both have been dancing for many years and are perfectionists which Oliver and Luda aim to portray in their shows and their classes through their dance school Latin Motion.
