Clubs in Leeds, despite not being as prevalent as those in London follow the same format as the Salsa Clubs in London.

Listed below is a selection of these clubs.

i. - NU Bar

This club night is run by Nicky and Gormack of The Salsaholics and is at the NU Bar on a Wednesday. They both dance Mambo and Cuban "On 1" and "On 2".

A few years ago they decided to move up to the North and apart from running Salsa Clubs in Leeds they and have also recently turned their attention to choreographing short Salsa shows.

Nicky

Nicky is an experienced salsa dancer and teacher (teaching fitness previously) and has been taught by famous teachers such as Super Mario, Susanna Montero,Leon Rose, Ramiro, Nelson Florez, Seaon Bristol and Frankie Martinez).

She performs and runs special Salsa based events throughout the country and uses her corporate background (as a PA to the CEO in the Bodyshop) to manage the events side of the business.

Gormack

Gormack, also an experienced salsa dancer and teacher of French/African descent, met Nicky through Salsa. He has had salsa tuition from the same teachers as Nicky, and performs and runs the Salsaholics events with her.

At this event, there are classes from 8:00pm - 10:00pm for all levels (taught "On the 1" and Mambo "On 2") and the club starts immediately afterwards until late (when you feel like stopping dancing).

Admission: £5 per class (£4 NUS)(£3 extra for 2 classes in same night), Club only £2.

This club night is also run by Nicky and Gormack of The Salsaholics fame. It happens once a month and at the time of writing this the next event was on 29th January 2006.

This is in a fantastic venue and attracts dancers from York, Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle, Sunderland and Birmingham as well as Leeds. They play Salsa throughout the night.

There are 2 Mambo Classes plus a beginners class running simultaneously from 7.15pm - 8.15pm then the club goes on until 11:00pm. There is a guest DJ every month

Admission: £6 per person (inc free class).
