1. Salsology.

Of all the Salsa clubs in Manchester, Salsology which is run in the Longfield Suite in Prestwich by Emma Moore, Kate and Mushi has the most promise.

This event was started about 2 years in one of the best venues of it's kind for a Salsa Club(I have not been there yet but have been told so by a very reliable resource).

It has a superb wooden floor and it is perfect for Salsa dancing.

Emma is a Salsa Mambo dancer based in Manchester. Emma who has a dancing, clubbing and DJing background, is a well respected choreographer (the principal choreographer for the mambo dance group Aurora Borealis),

performer and teacher. She has performed, danced and taught worldwide with her partner Mushi and appeared on Susan Montero's styling video.

Mushi is Emma's dance partner and he dances and teaches both "On 1", "On 2" and Cuban styles. He has danced and performed worldwide with Emma. He teaches "On 2" in Manchester and also teaches in many venues around the UK.

Kate has been dancing for 6 years and teaching for 4 years. She dances both "On 2" and "On 1", Cuban Style Salsa and Cha Cha Cha. She teaches with her partner, the regular Salsology DJ Gary Thomas in Manchester, the rest of the UK and also abroad. They have just started classes in Knutsford.

At the Salsology (which I consider to be one of the best Salsa Clubs in Manchester) events, there are themed classes from 9:15pm - 10:15pm

for beginners, improvers and intermediate, the themes being, spinning, turn patterns, styling etc and there are different themes at each event. The club then goes on after the class until 2:00 am.

As said I have never been to this venue but from the Salseros who I know that have been going from London I would say it would be worth giving a try (I certainly will) if you ever are in the Manchester area.

Also the different styles of Salsa should be evident at this event, i.e. Mambo "On 2", "On 1" and Cuban Styles. The other types of music that they play is Merengue, Bachata and Cha Cha Cha.

Time: The events are once every 2 months on the 2nd Friday of the month (the next event being 10 March 2006 as I write this).

Salsasology has also with Salsa UK co-promoted the first Brit Salsafest weekend in Blackpool on 3rd - 6th February 2006.
